So there I was, training in eight inches of snow.

I've been doing a lot of training in snow, but the texture was such that there was as much going through snow as being on snow. Really makes me aware of when I am an am not dragging my feet.

When I first started doing forms in snow regularly (I was going to the gym most days for a while, but that was mostly to avoid tearing up the ground when it was muddy) I felt a little clumsy, like I was fighting a lot with my footwork, and not really dropping into my stances. I feel like I'm settling a lot better now. I'm getting a better feel for the shifting surface under my feet.

Today it seemed really slow. Good balance, but I was surprised by how everything seemed to drag, and I wasn't getting as warm as I expected. It was good, though, and I stayed out long. On the way up the stairs, I realized my legs were tired, and my breathing still heavy. And hey, it was colder this morning than it had been, and I was lightly dressed. Let's here it for resistance training.

The father of the Japanese family whose boys often watch me was taking pictures again. Mostly of the snow, I think, but also of me doing Chen dao. I kind of would like to ask for copies - Shifu would like them, I think - but I'm embarrassed, too.
