First bagua class on the new schedule. I always enjoy bagua more if I'm not exhausted in the first place (used to be right after wushu, so a fair bit of the time I was pretty out of it). Felt like I let my butt stick out too much... but oh well. My hip is getting better, but it's not all the way better yet, and it's harder to keep my tail bone pointing down because of it. I don't like the fact that we've added another night of driving across the lake, and I don't like having wushu on Friday nights (well, I think I don't -- missed last week because of the bronchitis), but there are advantages to spacing things out.

And classes are generally being very cool right now. Bagua is mostly form work, and that's getting to be more challenging. Bagua forms are fun! Though it really bites if you're stiff...

Chen has been a set of revisions (suggestions Chen ZhenLei made to Yijiao), push hands, lots of fa jing (which is murder when you have a pulled muscle to protect)... and then next quarter we start on CZL's 18 posture form, then Lao Yi & Er Lu, then Straight sword, broad sword, cudgel and spear. Woo-hoo!!!! I have been aching to clearn Chen weapons forms, and I was feeling a little frustrated in the 56 form class...

We just finished the Yang 32 form in sword, and continue to work on the 42 competition form. Not sure where we go next. (Maybe I can suggest Chen straight sword? Probably too much to hope for...) The 32 form is very simple, and not particularly technically challenging, but it's a very satisfying form.

And of course, I'm completely dreading wushu tomorrow, but I figure if I can get through tomorrow's class without reinjuring my hip, it will probably be okay by next week. Then back to trying to get my sweeps in decent shape for level exams... this was a really bad time to injure my hip, considering how badly my sweeps already sucked, and I'm starting to resign myself to not advancing. Feh. It might not be a bad thing -- wushu has been getting a lot of my energy, just because it is so challenging for me, but long term it's the tai chi and bagua that I want to focus on. And when I hurt myself in wushu, it impacts *everything* I'm doing. At least this hip thing did.

Of course, if I can just get healthy and stay healthy, I might even squeak by. So I can get hurt in new and different ways next quarter...

In the other Chen class Shoko has been working with us on posture. She's starting to get picky. This is good.
