Aug. 23rd, 2002 12:45 amHey, I can move.
This is really cool considering that yesterday I woke up feeling blah. (Body was fine, brain wouldn't get above second gear.) So I decided to lift weights, something I haven't been doing for quite a while. Which felt really good.
Of course, by the time I headed into town for Sword and Chen class (but especially sword -- the sword starts feeling pretty by the end of the class a fair bit of the time even under normal circumstances) it wasn't feeling quite that good. But I persevered. And I woke up this morning with only barely functioning arms. Ow! (Note to self: next time I get one of these bright ideas, don't start it on the first of my two day martial arts death march. Mondays and Fridays are good.)
But it was the very best sort of pain. Which is to say, entirely explicable, self inflicted, and not indicating actual damage. And lo and behold, I survived both wushu and bagua! Even all the bagua palms which have been known to make my arms want to fall off for much less reason.
I can drop into crouch stance a lot easier now (it's an ankle thing, part of what I've been working on with my PT) but still can't get my sweeps to turn right. Maybe tomorrow I'll steal Craig's felt sole shoes and see if that makes a difference. I am going to get this move by the end of the quarter.
