(no subject)

Most of the rest of my wallet has turned up. ATM cards (cancelled) driver's license (I have a temp already, a new one is on order)... It's nice to get my PCC card back, I guess. I even already bought a new wallet.

All the money (about $5) and the uncashed check is, of course, gone. (Dustin said he'd put a stop order on the check.) They left about three dollars in change, though.

So I'm out about $28 (new driver's license and wallet plus the $5) and a ton of inconvenience, but it's a pretty decent wrap up all things considered.

Funny

So today the studio was semi suffocatingly hot (we've had wushu in far worse) so we moved the sword class outside. There was some discussion on the way to the park about whether or not our purses would be safe. (This did not originate with me ;-) ) But we got there and piled them all up where we could keep an eye on things. Then Shifu got there, for the tail end of that discussion.

At first she was reassuring. "Oh, I think they'll be all right." Various people in the class pointed out that a thief would have to have an awful lot of gall to confront an entire class of advanced sword students, not to mention our teacher...

Shifu pointed out that yes, if anyone tried to take our stuff, they'd be in for it.

"Unless they have a gun..." Which she thinks about for a while, apparently spooks herself, and suggests that we should indeed move the class inside.

This is not a favored option, and the rest of us convince her that it's quite unlikely that we're going to be attacked by gun wielding criminals.

Sheesh. I know the US has a bad reputation! Oh well. It's not like I can really throw stones at anyone else's paranoia.
