Wool socks

Wool socks are a wonderful thing. I'm remembering just why they became so essential a couple of years ago. Then I went out and bought several pairs of spiffy wool socks in better colors than beige and pale grey.

Another lovely weekend. The party over at the polyglot was a little more low key than I expected, somehow, but it was fun. Though I can spend just a few minutes on Craig's costume and a lot more time on mine... and he still is way cuter than I! (Even if he hardly says a word.) I am reminded of why I never dance in heels... very weird. A lot of moves just don't work right. Who ever dreamt up this heels bit anyway?

The cats have gone all perky.

But the cold still manages to get into my bones. Gods I hope we have more tme to warm up before wushu tomorrow. My left ankle is being kind of weird (okay, it hurts like a muthafucker) but I'm hoping this is some transitory thing. As in "in transit to getting more flexible so I can do sweeps decently for the level exams". A few weeks ago it was my right ankle hurting more, and it's doing a lot better now... Oh, and my hip and back flexibility are improving, too, which is a very good sign.

Exhibition

My school is sponsoring another Taiji and Wushu exhibition. This one is called

Wushu into Olympics, Taiji Legacy

...and it will rock.

In addition to the general school stuff (Craig and I will both be performing in the Chen and Yang demonstrations, there will be amazing wushu kids, etc) Master Chen ZhenLei will be performing. He's probably the best known living Chen Taiji stylist, and he'll be performing Chen broadsword, Chen spear, and several other forms (most of which I've never even seen). This is a really big deal if you're into such things. I've only seen him on tape before, but even the tapes are pretty incredible.

(He's also teaching a workshop on the days before the exhibition.)

Anyhow, the exhibition is on November 17th at 7:00 on Mercer Island. If you're interested in attending, drop me a note and we can make arrangements for tickets. (Tickets are fifteeen or twenty dollars, depending on how close you are to the front of the stage.)
