Well, the doctor thinks I definately have bursitis, and maybe some tendonitis going in my shoulder, and the whole thing might be aggravated by scar tissue in the joint. So keep doing what I have been doing, except I should actually stop when it starts getting sore and be more consistent about the ice, heat and naproxin, and if that doesn't calm it down I should consider getting someone to break up the scar tissue in the joint the way they did for my ankles.
Joy. Oh well -- I guess it was unlikely that I was going to find any useful advice that didn't involve cutting back a bit on the heavy use of the joint. (Which has been the problem -- my normal schedule doesn't allow it any really periods of rest.) I think I'm going to go pump some electricity thorugh the joint for a bit, and then curl up the the recumbant with a good book. (This counts as resting as it doesn't use my shoulder, and does increase circulation.) I feel kinda dumb.
Of course, my secondary reason for the appointment also went well -- quizzed her thoroughly about her philosophies regarding weight and weight loss, found her to be sane *and* well informed. (I particularly liked her discussion of the role of insulin. I mean, bloodwork says that I'm not at risk for diabetes, but she didn't have that in hand. And she not only dismissing the BMI, she dismissed it cogently and for the right reasons.) Didn't have much of a chance to discuss sexuality with her, but I'm not too worried about that.
