Feb. 11th, 2003 10:40 pmMore work on the orchard today. Almost done. (Alternating works well -- the herb garden involves too much kneeling to do two days in a row, the orchard tends to be a little hard on my shoulder.)
I love pruning. And I have the right set of tools. (Oh, but I love the new felco snippers I finally bought. And the pruning saw.) Gwinn spent most of the time climbing the same tree I was pruning and trying to rub against my face...
The trees are more tree shaped. I'm getting rid of a lot of the lower branches that the deer had been damaging anyway. I should probably be taking out more of the upper branches, but I'm a sucker for fruit wood. Opening things up a bit, anyway.
There's a pile of more things to do, but I really need to spend a bit of time on
dianthus's place one of these days. Shouldn't take too long. (Unlike anything here ;-))
Then planting more bulbs, edging, and pulling the blackberries off the hillside. (They aren't awful, but they need to be gotten *soon*.) And bittering the roses...
