Gah!!!

Yesterday, my car -- which has long had a bit of a problem with stalling out when it's cold -- stopped not stalling when it started running. Long and short is that I need the carb rebuilt.

Now, I knew this was coming, I was budgetting for it, it was the one further thing that was likely to go wrong with this car, and more to the point, it's been tweaky enough to hurt my fuel efficiency. I was intending to have the work done April or Mayish whether it had failed per se or not.

But I really didn't want any more car repair bills! Not yet!

Oh well. The nice bit is that once this is done I should see a pretty noticable increase in efficiency (and I'm already getting 30 mpg) and *that* couldn't come at a better time. And I should be biking more anyway, right?

Okay, since it looks like most people who might be interested are reading this again...

I've recently created [profile] bphaf or body positive health and fitness . I'm hoping this will be a group where people can discuss issues of health and fitness (in a pretty general sense) outside of the rather narrow definitions promoted by the media, fitness industry, government, or for that matter most doctors. I know a lot of you are interested in these issues in one way or another, and I invite y'all on board. Not to mention to invite other friends and suchlike.

In general, I'd like to aim for a fairly inclusive tone, and I'd really welcome everyone's input on what they see as relevant subject matter, and (eventually, if this takes off) an appropriate community charter. Though when I say "in general"... when I was looking around to see if such a community already existed, I stumbled across a number of pro-anorexia communities. (If you've missed this phenomenon, try searching on "ana" and/or "mia".) I was originally going to describe the groups in terms of a place for discussion, support, inspiration, etc. around and about pursuing your health and fitness goals as *you* define them, but the more I thought about it, the more I found myself thinking that that really seemed to cover the ana/mia bit, and yet that was not what I had in mind at all... I'm still mulling this one over. I think it's a non-trivial issue, though perhaps not likely to be a practical problem ;-)
