The tyranny of stretching
Apr. 11th, 2003 02:23 pmI have got to practice bagua more outside of class. It is *still* my most slacked on form...
That having been said, it was an okay class last night. By the end of things, I was starting to... really want to practice more. Which probably made me an irritating walking companion as Craig and I headed down the Ave to see Cowboy Bebop. (That the ave is all torn up and full of interesting piles of i-beams and dirt and stuff only made the urge stronger. It was looking like one big playground. One big playground full of cops... And if you surmise that I was behaving badly, I should point out that Craig was the one who wanted to sit on the cop car to see if he could get the cute bicycle cop to talk to him. Ahem.)
I was still hyper when we left, though my hips had stiffened a bit after two hours in the theatre.
And of course this morning they were much more stiff. I've got to get back into stretching not just every day, but *early* in the morning, first thing, and giving myself enough time that I don't have to run off and do something else first. If I stretch, it's still a little iffy dropping into crouch stance the first time or two... but after that it's fine. It feels good, even. But I've been falling into having slow mornings. Of coruse, getting to bed earlier so I get started earlier would help too...
I've also been awfully darn stiff some mornings. And yeah, working out will do that to you, and yeah, I'm not seventeen anymore... and I'm still hoping that as my body gets used to the new lower back alignment I won't have to go through this every fricking day.
