I just got home, and found a May basket on our door. A May basket! I don't think I've seen one since I last made one (when I was... nine, maybe.) I don't think I've ever gotten one. I am just delighted.
A quiet Beltane, all in all. Started celebrating last night (of course). Had a massage this morning, a lovely lunch at Nicolino's (followed by the Tiramisu tied for first place in Craig's poll) met up with Nikki to not buy a car from her. (But it is a sweet little car -- '91 Geo storm, red, body in good shape, engine in very good shape, two door hatchback, manual transmission, $950 -- drop me a note if you're interested and I'll put you in touch with her. Craig wants a new car, but apparently the emphasis is on *new*, not just another car. Aw.)
Headed into town, and ended up in Volunteer park. I grew up half a block from Volunteer park, and have tended to take it for granted, but darn it's a lovely park. Something tweaked in my neck as we were getting there, so I spent a lot of time lying in the sun, and looking up at the trees letting things calm down. (Down being the operative term -- it seemed to be a travelling muscle spasm, starting in my neck, then migrating to my shoulder, between the shoulder blades, and is now, in somewhat reduced form, residing in my mid back. Whatever.)
Did some stretching and sword form, and definately felt more real. (Watching Craig practice bagua barefoot in the grass didn't hurt either.)
Back was kind of annoying through bagua, but otherwise class went fairly well. I really enjoy bagua more when I can breathe. Shifu has gotten a bunch of business cards printed for the school, so I will now be equipped when practicing in public places ;-) (I had asked her about this, because I've been getting a lot of questions about he school, and I suspect that scribbling the URL on the back of a reciept isn't the optimal way to refer people.)
OTOH, the bagua/xingyi class might be cancelled due to lack of enrollment next quarter. Wah.
