Jun. 13th, 2003 11:28 pmHiked up to the ice caves (which isn't much of a hike by itself) and then over land around (but not in) the caves, up to a couple of the further waterfalls, through several streams, up and over a small ridge and so on. Native columbine are in bloom. And lupines and something bright yellow in the aster family, and foxglove, and there were big beautiful rosettes of the wild mountain sorrell and the little wild flowers of brook saxifrage and, and and...
I have got to just tuck a pair of gloves into my arcteryx bag and leave them there and no more nonsense about not needing them because it's almost summer. Generally I was well dressed for cool and rainy, but my hat did eventually soak, and while I was generally plenty warm my hands were not. Though they seemed much colder than was actually the case because my ulnar nerve was being twitchy. And I should pick up a long sleeved wicking shirt. (hurray again for wicking bras!) And I need to figure out what I did when I lent my pack to Craig so that it doesn't quite sit right right now -- to of it pulls away from my shoulders a little, and it kept getting caught on things.
Last week I was worried my ankle was being unstable and also upsetting my knee. I've got to be a little more careful what I pay attention to here -- my ankle might have been unstable, because it wasn't tracking right. Got that working again, and not only got at least another 15 degrees of flexion, but my knee were happy. I need to try and be more precise about these things, because when it's not tracking I do have to be careful, but when it is tracking I'm being a little more cautious than I need to be at this point. I can deal with much rougher terrain than I've been trying for.
