There's this wonderful point when the brick oven is fired up really hot, where when you look into the firebox all you see is an expanse of shining coals, and the heat is so intense as to be almost painful... the masonry block is about as warm as I can get it, to the kitties' delight.

Flamey things.

I don't fire it up quite this hot that often, but it does clean out most of the gunk from the chimney ;-) And it will keep the house warm well into tomorrow.

I was just getting bummed because everyone else was posting about how it's snowing where they are.

But indeed, it's snowing here too. Whee!

Hmph. Hope this doesn't mess with New Year's Eve plans too much.
