Today -- well, yesterday, as it is tracked here -- checked out my bike locker. Hmm... not sure at all that it will accomodate the recumbent. But I'll try.

Tired. More than a bit disenheartened, though for reasons that are pretty abstract, mostly.

Oh -- and our mail server is having issues, and keeps shutting itself off, so until that gets dealt with... well, leave me a note here if you need to get in touch with me. I will get my mail eventaully, but I won't be able to check it -- especially remotely -- as easily as it usually the case.

Just made some beet salad, and saag... The CSA is very rewarding, even if sometimes I barely have time to keep up with it.

So today after Chen (and being lame and not heading out on schedule) Tshar and I headed out hiking. I've been really wanting to get out aways for a bit now... and while I can't say that I'm sated, I am eased for the moment, anyway. (I need to do a nice all day hike -- something a bit challenging. But when?! Oh, yeah, MA class break is coming up... Hmm...)

There's still snow up on the ridge -- though just in patches, the area we covered (we were actually hunting mushrooms for the class, and didn't really get that far -- and had agreed not to stay out too late). For berry hunters, the berry bushes are in bloom still, though they've largely set fruit, but it'll be another month, I suspect, before berrying seriously gets going.

It was a warm day, but cooler at 5000 feet. Found some good mushrooms. Got all dusty. Did the first serious application of sunscreen of the year. Trees and birds and sun and shadow, and blinding white snowpatches and a young boy who'd run ahead of his family and then staked out a good spot on one of the more impressive view points to wait from.

I kept remembering and then forgetting that today was solstice. I thought about the last several solstices, and tried to remember what I'd been doing... couldn't for the life of me remember what I'd done last year, though, so I when I got home I looked it up in LJ. And apparently I was doing pretty much the exact same thing -- though by myself, in the sleet...

I guess if I do it next year it will be a tradition.
