A short one...

Tu Ho of Qu persuaded the King of Qu to use him to get Zhao. Furthermore he was about to bestow upon him the rank of Fifth Grandee, and then order him to secretly implement [his plans to get Zhao]. Chen Zhen spoke to the King of Qu, saying "If Ho cannot acchieve Zhao, you can not take back the rank of Fifth Grandee. He would be getting a reward without merit. If he does achieve Zhao, and then you don't give him something in addition, this would lack goodness. King, nothing would be better than sending ten riders to do it, and then giving the rank of Fifth Grandee. The King said "Good". And henceforth sent(?) ten riders to do it. Tu Ho became enraged, and wouldn't go. Chen Zhen told the King "This is because he is not able to achieve Zhao."

Despite all my grouchiness, this has actually been a pretty decent day. Much improved by realizing that when I need to I can walk less than a block from the lab and hang out on a beach on the Montlake cut... Water and sun and forms.

A lot of my stress has been motivated by some of the confusion around my academic plans. (Yes, better on something than I think I ought to increases my stress load. I like to think things make more sense than that.) But I think I know what I need to do. Namely, talk to Genetics again. Probably start attending lectures from some of the people I might want to work under. Talk to V. (Eep!) Be pretty upfront about what I want to study and what kind of research I want to do, and see how flexible the programs are.

Even though I feel more like I have a cold, my energy is coming back. This is also drawing my attention to ways in which the reduced wushu schedule has not been suiting my body. So I just did a lot of ab work, and lifted weights. And that felt very good.
