Break may be almost over, but it is actually feeling a little like break.

After wushu (which went better -- my lungs are finally calming down, and I did jump, though not well) Craig and I stopped by the market. I adore the lot that is free if you are in and out in under and hour. It's easy to spend too much time in the market -- but this makes it relatively simple and cheap to do the more frequent quick expedition.

So my silk shell was finally done, and I picked it up, and it indeed fit just right. Yay! And I scarfed down a quick lunch of pelmeni.

Then I came away with three bags of produce from my favorite organic vegetable seller. I mean, when really good blood oranges are five to the dollar, what do you do? And the artichokes. And the fennel... Mmm... And then a brief stop by my favorite fish monger, while Craig ran off and got us both drinks. For me, a really amazing "authentic Itallian hot chocolate". I can't vouch for the authentic, but it was pretty spectacular, anyway. Darn.

So for dinner we had a risotto of garlic and birch leccinums and a bit of wine. And my favorite fennel and tomato sald. And broiled black cod. I have to remember how much I adore black cod. Even though it falls apart into pieces when you're trying to serve it. Simple fare, really, nothing that requires much in the way of skill, but quite satisfying.

And now I ought to make strawberry shortcake. (Yeah, I always go on about not buying strawberries out of season. But they were really good, and organic, and they offered us the last two boxes for a dollar. What would you do?) Though the one glass of wine I drank is hitting me really really hard, and I'm not altogether convinced I'm safe with an oven.

I really do miss having time for this kind of domestic futzing. I really really like my life right now. The only possible exception is that there's a bit much of it, and since I like all the individual bits so much, and have gone out of my way to seek them all out is would be in poor taste, not to mention ridiculous, to complain. And it's not like I don't cook regularly. But it's nice to have the time to do it right.
