Tomorrow's Foray
Oct. 29th, 2005 03:28 pmTomorrow's foray will be Seattle local, mostly throughout the Arboretum and Interlaken Park. Let's meet at the boat at one*, and head out from there. If you need a ride that far, this is a good place to drop a note stating so ;-)
I'm thinking of spending several hours out hunting, and then retiring back to the boat for identification and the cooking of edible prizes. None of this is mandatory, of course. (Well, okay, I might draw the line if any substantial number of people don't hunt and don't cook but want to eat.)
Bring weather appropriate clothing (expect showers), sturdy shoes (slap me if I don't bring hiking boots), and things in which to carry mushrooms -- cloth sacks, small paper bags (for separating specimins) baskets, what have you, water, something to munch on and otherwise what you'd generally take on a hike. You might want to bring an appropriate knife, a mushrooming stick, and a guidebook. (I'll be bringing Mushrooms Demystified, possibly others.)
Note: While I suspect we will find a few edibles, I make no promises. OTOH, we might find quite a few edibles. I am certain we will find a number of lovely fungi, and that everyone will have a chance to practice keying them out.
* Go to the Fremont Troll. Head directly down the hill into the Adobe parking lot, and park. Look around for pink houseboat. If frantic waving does not elicit response from said boat, call me on my cell.
