If I'd gone to finishing school...
Aug. 27th, 2006 03:06 pm...I'd probably have known that it is not socially acceptable to whip out a knife and cut a piece of galangal in half in the middle of Whole Foods. In my defense, I was left with the sad choice between huge nice roots, and small shrivelled and moldy roots. I didn't want to buy more than I would possibly use. What would you have done? A few rather concerned looking employees headed over to ask if I needed any help, but I gave them a bright smile and told them I was just fine, as I clutched my prize.
(K's roommate V was similarly disturbed by my keeping an Opinel in my purse. K only had the one knife, so I pulled out the Opinel to chop some vegetables when we were both cooking. However, as they have been roommates for more than a year, I couldn't feel that bad. K, afterall, thinks that hydrochloric acid is a useful household cleaner.)
Yes, I was shopping in Whole Foods. The local PCCs seem to have stopped carrying rye berries, and I like using them in bread. They also carried rice bran, which I wasn't able to find at PCC (though it was late and so I would call this lack of findings inconclusive).
PCC, on the other hand, has started carrying diva cups. Since I have not yet managed to get off my ass and order one, this was a welcome surprise.
DSL is down at the boat, so while I'll be connecting periodically through my cell, I won't be on all the much.
poetry_lady -- I am trying to get that article done. Things have been busy, but I keep telling myself it's a refreshing break from writing about multidimensional databases... (the academic style seems to be bleeding over, though. Trying to fix it. Maybe I'll have a glass of wine before editing...)
