Stayed home and did quiet homey things today. (Wanted to spend a little time in the lab, but my neck was toast, and I figured going in would only make it toastier.)

Planted basil, started bread, did laundry... went to rescue my sister and nephew (the nephew just having thrown up over everything on the bus, after which they were thrown off). Y'know, stuff.

Tomorrow the heroic trio will meet to practice Chen Sword over at YYAC.

Does anyone happen to have a small cd holder they aren't using? I don't have a lot of CDs, but I have enough that they are cluttering up my desk.

Reading Spong's "A New Christianity for a New World", and am charmed so far by his vision of a Christianity that really doesn't suck. (I was not previously unaware of the existance of such, knowing a number of very cool Christians, and by implication, Christian groups, but still, yay.) I'm interested to see what he has to say (if anything) about the cultural positioning of such a post-modern christianity. I mean, if you give up the believing in silly things bit (I'm not saying this is an exclusively christian problem), and the whole exclusivity bit, what's left that you can point to and call "Christianity"?

For the last several years I've been describing myself as a cultural rather than religious pagan (I'm not sure how useful a distinction this is). Some months ago I had the somewhat disturbing experience of running into a branch of Buddhism that really didn't suck (by my own terribly subjective measure)... and realizing that hey, in terms of what they're talking about, I'm a buddhist. Who would have thunk it? (For the record, my current take on this is that identity politics are silly. Still, I'd halfway acknowledged for years that I was something of a Taoist-in-denial, but I thought I was quite safe from Buddhism. *sigh*)
