I'm thinking fiction -- no lack of non fiction right now. (Though out of my field non fiction might be nice.) I like speculative fiction, generally (which means to me that it's more than just a genre piece). Good writing, and good characterizations are important. Things that teach me something or surprise me are to be preferred.
