My trusty wonderful Petzl headlamp has been lost since I moved to Cleveland, and likely before that. It lived in my purse, I used it all the time and it was in all ways a Good Tool. But I haven't been able to find it, and its loss saddens me. I suspect I left it in someone's car. It looked something like this:

(Yes, almost sixth months is a long time, and clearly I can survive without it -- I usually used it as a hand light, and I have a nice led light on my keychain. But there is a difference between surviving and thriving...)

I'm figuring if someone happens to have it, I'll wait until I'm back visiting, otherwise I'll probably order a replacement.

  • Good food. (I can eat an awful lot of brussels sprouts fresh from the stalk, lightly steamed.)
  • The farmer's market, more generally, particularly vendors who know me. (And wondered if I'm a bakery, because they do deliver... And exchanging recipes, and wonderful squash, and all those happy farmer's market things.)
  • My pretty pretty jian. Yes, I train with it all the time, but sometimes I'm reminded of just how much I adore it. (Thank you all who gave it to me.)
  • While I'm at it, my pretty pretty fingerless mittens. Which let me hold the jian comfortably even in the sleet.
  • Being well enough to be out training after dark in the sleet.
  • An awful lot of buying things (though none of it on Friday) -- particularly:

    • A cutting board. (Okay, so I looked at them for months before getting one.)
    • More pottery. The best part was when they asked "so, which style?" "Uh, do you have something to write with? Maybe you should sit down?" (I have one setting each of four different glaze style, and needed to replace a couple of things, plus add bowls in each. Plus K wants his own bowls, and wants them to be in yet a different glaze, except his are going to match one of my mugs. Maybe I should draw a diagram...)
    • A tablet computer!! Again, been thinking about it for months, finally decided to get it. Then the screen I wanted was out of stock at the manufacturer, and I wasn't going to get it until sometime next year. But then I was able to get it from another vendor, with overnight shipping, for $50 less. And with a DVD burner. (I went with the lenovo. As much as I like the pure slate tablets, I think it's more practical, and the ergo issues aren't as pressing as they were.)
    • More bras. (Hey, now that I have the one of the new size, I can barely stand to wear the old ones.)

  • HouseWiki, finally up! (Not out of the playpen yet, though.) Hopefully soon to be followed by LabWiki!
  • Is it a joke? Is it a webcomic? Can't really say, but it's a continual source of amusement.
  • Sweet potato lentil girasol leek quinoa wild rice soup. With peppers and ginger and stuff. (Maybe tamarind? I'm thinking some tamarind...) [edit: darn, no tamarind. Added lemon, and peanut butter. Perverse, but happily perverse.]
  • Chemistry. And Biology, for that matter.
  • Finally repairing my purse's satellite.
  • Green tea in the mornings. (Okay, the caffeine is still on probation. But I like the ritual of it. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] dianthus -- the beautiful tea cups and eminently practical tea pot are getting lots of use.)

I have lit a candle for you, 'gainst the night
And hope you will come with the wind
Your bare feet leave a silver path
Do not deny me your grace.

The choice is old, I have but one gift, my life
A single brush stroke, to mark my years...
