Dec. 1st, 2007 02:30 pmSo, I have a Biochem Nutrition and Metabolism final on Friday. This morning I got up, journaled a bunch (why no, it's not up here -- some of it might make an appearance later, under a tight filter, but this was mostly me shaking the cobwebs of the last few weeks out of my head), spent an hour on Calc (finished the really embarrassing problem, which actually wasn't anything to be embarrassed about really, except it wasn't really calculus, more of one of Apostol's semi-fiendish "So, you thought you knew everything there was to know about geometry, didn't you?" problems -- I'm guessing Archimedes as a root source -- and I went about it the long way and derived all of bloody trig before I realized there was a messy but quicker way of getting things done) went to the farmers market, came home and made pumpkin apple oat and cashew biscuit - cookie things (they would have been muffins but neither of us has muffin tins) and sat down to do some serious studying. (I study better with the accompaniment of munchies. Though these munchies need something tart. Maybe cranberries...)
So, first off I went up to the course web site to download the study guide. The professor handed it out in class yesterday, but I declined to take in on the grounds that I am trying to go paperless, since she said she would post it. And I downloaded what appears to be the final.
I kept hoping that it was last year's final, but the editing history, and some of the references make that unlikely. And most of it seems pretty easy, except a couple of "I should know *what* pathway? Uh, I suppose I could logic together a reasonable facsimile of it..." (Despite the Chinese degree, rote memorization is not my forte. Or rather, because of that, the Chinese degree. I'm perverse that way. I guess I thought glycerol neogenesis was a pretty stupid pathway, but I suspect I could have faked it anyway.)
So I wrote to the professor. There's even a fairly good chance that no one else has looked at it yet.
I still don't have the study guide.
