General notes:

There was a period of half a day or so in which all my mail was sent to spam. I've since recovered those messages (and I've been busy enough I might not been just as slow replying... I haven't replied to a few yet) but was pretty late on a few time critical things.

And my computer use has been weird the last few days. Wednesday morning my tablet stopped functioning as a tablet. Works just fine as a laptop, but it's not picking up swivel signals, the buttons and scroll control on the screen aren't working, most of the lights on the screen also aren't working (except for the bluetooth and wifi lights, which apparently really like the upgrade) and it doesn't pick up signals from the stylus. Now that I've backed up my machine, rebuilt the OS (I'd kind of been meaning to) and taking it apart and reassembled it twice, I'm pretty sure what the problem it, but I need to order a part. I must say, it's nice to have a box that's designed to make it easy to do work on yourself... And the problem isn't entirely unexpected. The hinge is the canonical place tablets have problems, and I'd known mine was too loose for a while, plus there was a lot more stress on it since I'd broken the latch many months ago (and gotten another, but only installed it, uh, yesterday...)

Did an hour and forty-five minutes of yoga this morning, just a lot of asking my body what it wanting and going until I was done. This was a very good thing. Thinking about trying to make time for something like that a couple of times a week. And then.... an hour and forty-five minutes of math, too? And sparring, and a hour and some of forms and... yeah, I like weekends. Want to write more, but I should do some studying first.

So I've been wearing my favorite Zamberlan hiking boots a lot recently, in Cleveland's snow and salted streets... and I suspect the salt is no good for them. But I don't know a lot about leather care. (Um, well, I actually haven't owned a lot of leather*.) In the past my care of hiking boots mostly came down to "wade through a stream or two, and then when they're dried off brush them real good and apply waterproofing occasionally". But maybe the salt calls for special treatment?

Thoughts?

* I have actually owned two leather jackets, and given them both away. Oh, and a leather hat**, and I gave that to one of the people who got a leather jacket. And a skirt - also given away. There is a theme here... I don't exactly avoid leather, it's just not generally my thing. But I really don't avoid leather for shoes. Not only do I have weird and abused feet, but I suspect considering how hard I use my shoes leather is likely the most environmentally conscious thing to make them out of. Anything else I destroy in short order.

** Actually, come to think of it I own another leather hat. Huh. I got it to go with my oilskin coat, which I haven't been wearing for a while. (Though it is awesome in serious rain.)
