Mar. 21st, 2009 04:51 pmMe: But then Shaw* said "So I'm pretty sure none of you got up at 5 am to do yoga..." And what was I going to say? I mean, in fact, today was the only day I didn't get up before 5 am to do yoga. Well, okay, yesterday I got up late, so that was more like 5:15, but it wasn't like sleeping in until 6:30.
K: You should go post on livejournal that you slept in until 6:30! And it was decadent!
Me (thinking of that last hour, curled up, dozing and dreaming): Mm. And it was.
* Shaw being the teacher for the yoga class I did to day, making up for skipping on Tuesday when B was in town and we were hatching plans for making an MMIX assembler in python**.
** Yeah, really. I would try to explain this in terms that made it make sound rational, but frankly I suspect there aren't any. Though the one bit of good to come out of all of this is that we are all pretty thoroughly sick of MMIX, and while we're having fun with the assembler on our reading days we're going to be taking on math.
Has Knuth ever worked on a largish project with anyone else (who wasn't completely awed by his greatness)? Hacking through his cweb code alternates between that kind of fascinating experience of reading a newspaper in a language that I don't know but which is closely related to languages I do know... and suspecting that sticking pins in my eyes would be less painful. But I think I'm falling in love with python.
