Well, I continue to be doing better without being 100% well. Had a good practice this morning (and yoga, and sparring). Feeling a bit wilted right now, but not dreadfully so - I think I might have some more tea to see if that will perk me up a bit. Other than pounding out the rest of a solid draft of my revision, my big goal for the day is to make it to yoga - I've missed the last two weeks, after missing three and a half classes a couple of weeks before that... been a rocky semester when it comes to stamina. I really hope this clears up before I head back to Seattle to train. Or before Sesshin for that matter.

Seriously on the upside, my Ayyaware tabi, which were in Hong Kong yesterday were in Cincinnati this morning, and are in Cleveland marked out for delivery now. Oh I hope this works, and they fit, and all that. Waterproof shoes would be a great thing. Waterproof shoes. Warm toe socks. And for the winter, tabi rather than fivefingers are likely to be much warmer...

Woe!

So my Ayyawear cordura nylon lowcut spiral tabi have arrived. They are gorgeous. The soles look like they might avoid the delamination problems I keep having with my VFFs (the inside of the big toes take a lot of strain when I do pivots). They look, indeed, like they were modeled just on my feet.

However, the side zippers don't come far enough down for me to put them on.

Bwah! Woe! Look, I've been waiting for these for a while, and I don't have other good options for waterproof barefoot style shoes. And while Cleveland has had a mild fall, I've also been ill over the last couple of months and could really use the warmer foot gear.

I also suspect the top of the ankle is a little too tight. (I have narrow ankles, at least compared to my calves - but my calves are ridiculously muscular, and the ankles of the tabi end about 5cm above the narrowest part of my ankle.) But that should be a simple fix.

I've been happy with their customer service so far, and I suspect we'll get this worked out... but it doesn't seem very likely that worked out is going to mean me getting shoes that fit in short order.
