I've been really not posting recently. And the more I don't post, the more I feel like I should actually post something, y'know, important. Or at least cover a lot of the stuff of the last several weeks. Maybe I'll try the random snippet version.

* Lauren has graduated from circus school. Her performance was wonderful. I cried. I'm really glad that it's so hard to leave Vermont and I got stuck there for a couple of extra days.

* I've been spending a lot of time learning Blender. Mostly because the bullet physics engine is incorporated into it, and it supports soft body modelling, so I can make my meshes and manipulate them in the same place. I have a bunch of movies of various soft objects bouncing, squishing and draping around. Next: animated slugs. (Another test case. There's this one Jewish folk dance I'm thinking of having them do...)

* The student of mine whose heart stopped, and then had the stroke, was back in class today. And kicking ass. Damn...! (I've been in this ridiculously cheerful mood ever since he showed up. Darn it was good to see him.)

* I still don't have my tablet. OMFG. I'm kind of wondering if I can guilt Asus into just giving me one of the new ones. This is ridiculous.

* The trip was greatly improved by Ella's wonderful suggestion of a face mask (40 blinks - light, it doesn't touch my eyes, OMG). Dozing on the airplane became sleeping on the airplane.

* Also, I picked up an inflatable zafu, because while I'm willing to improvise I figured if it worked that would be one less barrier to sitting and trying to stay on top of the sitting practice while travelling is hard enough. This one has the embarrassing name of mobile meditator, but it's structured and configurable - there are three bladders (all with inner baffles). I think I might be happiest just filling the inner one - but then if I only fill the outer one it makes a pretty decent sleeping in a chair pillow, and it's a good travel pillow generally.

* Today was food day at the zendo. I'd just finished a batch of coffee toddy, and offered cold soy toddy lattes to everyone, and pretty much everyone accepted. Agreement is that they definitely rock. (Well, yeah.) I also made a quinoa salad with oyster mushrooms, zucchini, green onions, cherry tomatoes, ginger and lemon. I was gleefully planning how I'd eat the half that didn't get eaten when I saw that we had a relatively small group... but, the slack was taken up somehow. Even though people brought all kinds of wonderful fruit, berries and croissants (okay, the croissants I am taking on faith) in addition to the normal bagels. I can't complain about people enjoying the food I make them, but, darn.

Oops, time to sit.
