Feb. 18th, 2004 10:20 amHeavens, I feel like I've just been slapped in the face.
In theory, at least, I'm doing an article for Widdershins on Community Supported Agriculture. I'd made an appointment today to interview Claire Thomas, from The Root Connection, this morning, as the Root Connection is the largest and oldest CSA in the region, and also one that I've had some exposure to. (I haven't been a member, but I've spent some time at their farm, talked to people who have worked shares, and so on.)
At the beginning of the interview, I told her a little more about Widdershins. Apparently the "local pagan community" bit hadn't penetrated earlier. When she figured out what I was saying (apparently she had trouble hearing or understanding the word "pagan") she didn't want to talk to me anymore. Good-bye.
Which is really a pain, because having set this up last week, I was kind of counting on her for information. Though I can probably work around that... Guess I'll be making a few more calls this morning.
Damn. Three years promoting local, organic, seasonal food, and I perhaps naiively assumed that she'd welcome the exposure.
It seems kind of petty to include this information in the article, but on the other hand, if I'm going to encourage people to become members of CSAs, there's something to be said for ones that are at least pagan tolerant.
