Another way of not giving blood

tylikWhen I'm in a grumpier mood, sometimes I wonder if I just keep trying this out of stubborness. I am not currently feeling particularly grumpy, though, so it mostly just amuses me.
Went down again. My efforts to improve my blood iron have suceeded -- go me! Though this was not immediately obvious -- dropped my blood into the copper sulfate, and it bobbed up to the surface, I swear. So they ran it to the centrifuge, and not only did I have sufficient iron, but ample, even, and they don't know why it didn't sink.
Whatever. So I hoped up into the donor chair, and got my ipaq connected to the internet.
I hoped that the list of "unusuable"s in my chart would convince them to take me seriously when I say that there have been problems getting blood out of me, but alas, they did not, at least not at first. Absolutely no blood whatsoever could be gotten out of my left arm. I suspect I will have a bruise, but the bandaid is purely decorative. Not even a drop. As soon as the needle appeared, the vein hid in terror.
My right arm went differently. He got the needle in, and after a painful period of wiggling it around even started to get blood going. Which slowed, so he tried to adjust it, and air got into the needle and contaminated the sample... In pique, I then managed to leak blood all over the armrest, while the guy kept apologizing, and I tried to keep from laughing. (The total amount of blood was very small, just messy.)
So here I am, bandaged on both arms, and I'll try again in a couple of weeks. I see this as a measure of their desperation, BTW -- the spirit is willing, but the flesh has it's own ideas, which makes me a pain in the neck. Usually after a failed attempt they really don't want me back for a while, but apparently the blood supply is low enough that they're even willing to make further attempts on me.
