tylikJust a quick post, since I haven't been on much. L and N's visit was just lovely - what wonderful houseguests!
Craig's still sick. He was going to at least head into town yesterday when I went to wushu, but when I went up to get him, he was fast asleep. Poor guy.
Though in some ways it wasn't a bad day to miss -- it was hot, but more than hot the gym was just sticky and humid. I know I'll adapt, but it makes things harder at first. On the plus side, Shifu renewed her judge certification, and received an "A"! (I'm still not sure, but I gather that there are few other such ranked judges in the country.) And we spent a lot of time talking about the new competition rules, and while she didn't exactly say "any of you who are over thirty, I don't even want you trying some of these moves" it was pretty close to it. Feh. (Then again, there's not much point of aspiring to a 720 degree whirlwind kick when my 360 still are noticably less than stellar... oh heck, they just suck.) At least I don't suffer from "fifty year old shoulders"...
I am generally reminded why I am so much more committed to Taiji.
The heat, or humidity carried scents very intensely last night. Even in Capitol Hill I could smell the sea, and in the I-dist (Craig had begged me to bring him a sour mango smoothy) it was thick in the air, the night sensually warm. I remembered walking in Foca at night, with the smell of sea.
Beltane. I wonder what that means to me these days?
