tylikI want a microscope. It's a bloody pain in the neck not to have one at home. And they're so cool. And maybe I wouldn't spend so much time playing with the scopes in the lab (I mean the myco lab -- don't think we have any scopes in the lab I usually mean when I say "the lab") if I had my own, and would concentrate on IDs in the general sense.
I also want a digital camera. Just because my phone cam is just enough of a camera for me to realize what I'm missing.
Don't get me wrong, my big purchases for the day were a) tuition and b) a pair of martial arts shoes I've needed for at least six months. I'll probably dither about the 'scope and the camera for another six months... and then just get the microscope.
I could use a new back, though, if I'm putting in orders... (Wushu actually went pretty well today, and Shifu had a few ideas... she really is disturbed by the idea that it looks like they can't give me any exercises that will fix it. But then, so am I. I like exercises. They make me feel like I'm somewhat in control of my own destiny.)
Meanwhile... I'm actually really enjoying Chinese this quarter. The Mencius, even. I'm thinking of putting up a notice on one of the Chem boards looking for a conversation partner... I don't want to lose ground. And I'm having fun in the lab. When I'm not feeling frustrated and thwarted.
