Kung Fu Hustle

craigp drug me off to see Kung Fu Hustle after wushu, today. And it's really hard to finish up an angsty whiny post when I keep giggling.
So, first off, let me cut to the chase. Go see it.
It's kind of "Bugs Bunny" meets "The Matrix" in 1930's China, around what ought to be a parody of kick flicks, except that it's too generous towards the original material to really call it parody. Not to mention possessing surprising visual subtlety (yeah, in addition to the slapstick humor) and excellent choreography. It's stunning. And... gods, after all the times Craig and I have been giggling uncontrollably during movies other people apparently thought were serious (say, the second Matrix movie) it was really nice to realize that yes, other people see this stuff as funny.
So, if you hear us murmurring things to eachother to eachother like "Oh, my god, his plastic sandals...!" and then dissolving into giggles... well, you'll just have to see it to understand.
