Weird. The Sammamish Valley fireworks display was not the usual collection of smarmy nineteenth century patriotic music with the occaisional movie soundtrack thrown in. No, it was mostly movie soundtracks, and a fair bit more godding than I'd seen before. Still fun, but instead of leaving me feeling vaguely wholesomely happy about my community, I felt a bit unclean. I found myself wanting to discussion the abortifacient properties of roadside weeds with passing strangers, and wished there was a rousing "Separation of Church and State" anthem with a lot of shouting and stomping and clapping of hands we could try to get going...
