Have you ever been getting over being sick, or on the verge of getting sick, and you got a massage, and afterwards you felt you the influenza ton of bricks had landed on your head? That's kind of how I'm feeling right now. Except I didn't get a massage, I went to wushu... (and yes, I'm making sure I get enough water). And I'm pretty sure I'm not sick. Maybe whatever it is that has had my neck and shoulder so upset is finally healing. (Except for the general achey tired bit, I actually feel like I'm doing better.)

My form was terrible, but it felt good to be back. Still a couple of things I can't do because of lingering ankle weirdness, but I also realized (again!) how much the more intense stuff does to stabilize my spine. I think this is half the reason why some of these injuries end up lingering for so long -- if it's enough to mess up my training, then everything starts coming apart at the seams.

OTOH, I used to think that I was going to have to train like this for the rest of my life -- which is kind of an awful thought, because, I'm sorry, wushu just plain has an expiry date, and what's difficult at thirty after a couple of car accidents and various other trauma isn't going to be easier at 50, or 70... But I am reminded that really, I've come a long way in the last few years. It's easy to forget -- generally, as I've gotten better, I've increased my expectations accordingly.

Gods but I hope this is calming down. School is really going to suck if it doesn't.
