Back in Physical Therapy. I'm generally going to be working with A. again, but she was on vacation, so I worked with her replacement. Which says something about how much I trust A. -- mostly I hate breaking in new people. And indeed, the break in process wasn't too tedious. The aide / trainee started out a little annoying, but the PT I was working with did tests without either annoying or injuring me. (It's been a while since I was sent to the emergency room by a PT doing an evaluation, but it did happen several times, and is part of the reason I'm so grouchy about dealing with newbies.) There was the usual progression of the aide saying "she has really good range of motion!", but the PT, who has access to my previous records, and seemed to have a clue, also, explained that yes, I already had more than the standard range of motion, but one has to be careful dealing with dancers, gymnasts and martial artists, because what looks good on the surface can still mean an awful lot of loss.

So she worked on me for a bit, and then handed me to the aide who was supposed to give me exercises. So we went out into the gym, and she tried to give me some ridiculously easy core stability exercises -- though she quickly got the clue and gave me the hardest ones she knew. Then she tried to give me ridiculously easy ab exercises. Which I faithfully did, and explained that yes, I could probably do these for about twelve hours at a stretch, and why don't I show you what I usually do for ab strength? So I did, and her eyes got very big. Then she tried to show me some dural stretches for my shoulder and neck, and discovered that I have hyper-flexible shoulders. (Actually, they're less hyperflexible than they're supposed to be, thanks.) And was a little distressed by my knowledge of anatomy (hey, it's my anatomy, shouldn't I know it?) She looked distinctly panicked, and gave up. Me: 1 Aide: 0 I mean, it is kind of funny, the first few times, but it's also tedious. I'll be glad when A. is back. The aide really wasn't that bad, but I almost always throw new people.

Oh, and I got a lot of that "When do you ever get time to sleep! You are so busy!" from both the new PT and the aide. And... I'm not, really. I *wish* I was as busy as these people seem to think I am. Feh.

Got things finished up for my remaining class, wrote my quarterly report, kibbutzed about possible uses for the spatial mapping kind of multi dimensional indices, and home and then wushu. Which went okay, though I was feeling a bit creaky. Creaky and tired enough afterwards that I decided to take myself out to Musashi's (it's amazing this doesn't happen every week, Musashi's being a very short block from wushu). I was lazy and out of sorts, so I ordered chirashizushi... and they made me the best chirashizushi I have ever had. Anywhere. Darn.

Of course, it might have been that it was late, and a slow evening, and I've only been a customer for twenty four years or so, so they know what I like but... darn, steaming hot perfect unagi on top, piles of hamachi, and ever so lightly seared albacore, and fresh salmon, and wee little bay scallops... Oh, when it comes to the curative powers of sushi, I am a true believer.

Which is good, because I'll be in seminar for six hours tomorrow, and another six (of Dao! Gah, six of dao!) on Sunday.
