May. 28th, 2006 11:41 amFrom where I sit at my computer I can see the ivy and blackberry covered bank of the lake. A moment ago a little gold finch lit on the curved cane of a himalayan blackberry, sang a few notes, and then flew on. Right above the spot where the beaver sat last night, alternately grooming his face with his week little hands (he's a big beaver, there's not much wee about him) and munching on the ivy.
The beaver seems to enjoy munching on invasives, by the by. When he's not chowing down on blackberries and ivy, he's climbing the bank and gnawing off the shoots of whatever this horrible invasive is that I'll always think of as "Chinese smartgrass" after an amusing game of telephone with
canyonwren and her father... Kind of like a weak, fibrous bamboo with red stems shooting off at the joints and these big, round vaguely heart shaped leaves.
Fleshing out the paper. Starting to be a little worried about the number of notes that say "[figure!]", "[ref]" or "[code snippet!]"... There are a few sections I have to stop by the lab before I can work on them further.
