tylik...and so I'm leaving Cleveland, as I arrived, at sunrise.
I suspect that some of you, who have lived here, will be appalled to hear me call it a fairy tale city. Does it help to think of the Brothers Grimm instead of Disney?
Lush green deciduous trees and grapevines growing as weedy as himalayan blackberry. Chain linked fences that sag rustily around trees that have grown through them and absorbed them but are straight and tall. Train stations and grafitti, abandoned lots and towers pink in the light with beautiful crumbling brickwork.
And, I can only surmise, third sons setting out to make their fortune and matchgirls sleeping in the doorways.
But I have loved everywhere that I have ever been.
