Sep. 26th, 2002 03:57 pmI've spent an awful lot of time today listening to the Senate commitee on foreign relations hearing on the proposed granting of authority to the shrub to attack Iraq if he decides he feels like it... Which right there should tell you about my day.
Actually, I was impressed by a number of the speakers. And once again find myself contemplating that at least in the international arena the current administration's rhetoric makes me want to run screaming... their actions so far haven't been quite as dire. I wish I could trust that this is intentional and measured. (After all, "playing" the really psychotic trigger happy bad cop only works if no one is sure if you're playing. However, acting as if public opinion anywhere doesn't matter is just foolishness.) Making Colin Powell represent the administration to the committee was kind of amusing... if politically astute.
Having both Albright and Kissinger speak also made for a varied and entertaining afternoon.
I think I will go drown my sorrows in back episode of "the splendid table"
