(cut because I seem to be writing more of these at the moment)
Today I woke up feeling great. I've definitely been sleeping better since I started taking gabapentin at night. Better than I had for some time before I noticed that the pain level was starting to interfere with my sleep, which isn't really that surprising, I guess. I've also been doing a lot of work with my shoulders and thorax, and I woke up with that all doing the right thing, instead of having to fight for it. (Which might just be that there is an instinctive hunching when one is in pain, which might tie into the sleeping poorly bit. Or maybe I'm understanding better, or maybe they are understanding better.)
So, after yoga and zhan zhuang and math and sparring (and more math because I wasn't done with breakfast and tea) I headed out for forms and running. It always surprises me how much even what I think of as relatively low levels of pain changes things - I got through Laojia Yilu with nice precision but fairly quickly (even on good days I will sometimes spend an hour going through just once - very carefully, with a lot of repeats.) And then I did all my Shaolin forms. Twice. (There is something happening with Green Dragon...)
And then I went running.
Not very much. Maybe a mile. Maybe. And I'm pretty sure now that the reason I had stopped having problems with asthma is that the SI joint stuff had slowed me down a bit. (Well, and maybe the pollen was particularly bad with all the wind this morning, at least before the rain got going.) But I'm currently at a moderate level on those meds, so I can drop my doctor a note and increase it (a note because I'd like to pick up a different prescription - more economical for the higher dose). It was still a good run - not that I'm good at running, but it feels good. And the rest, I trust, will come.
SI joint is definitely twitchy from the run, but I'm being careful with it, and it's not getting hugely twitchy yet.
Oh, and I have been inspired to cut the fat from my key chain. Still need to work on gear that accommodates running and forms.
