01. Your live journal "user name" & what it means:

Tylik. It was originally a mispelling of the kazakh word for fox (I was telling it to my roommate who was setting up the account across the room) and a bit of a joke. Ten years later... it's habit. And it's rarely used.

02. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your livejournal represent who you actually are?

*shrug* No idea. I'm very honest in my journal, but it's written for public consumption, too. So I omit a fair amount. Sometimes. And sometimes I use it to rant. Security groups are a good thing.

03. How much about your life do you post to lj?

Depends. Mostly on how much I feel like typing. Sometimes I post a "what I did today" more often I don't. I often post more when I'm less busy, which skews things.

04. Is there anything you refuse to post about?

"Refuse"? There are things I don't post about, but I haven't written a rulebook for it.

05. On a scale of 1-10 how interesting do you think your own journal is to others?

3? 4? It depends on what I'm writing. And I'm not sure how much people replying to a post corresponds to which ones they like to read. (In other forums, I have been surprised to find that people read and remembered posts of mine that no one ever responded to.)

06. From who/how did you find out about lj?

Housemate? Friends? I'd heard a lot about LJ before I started one. I remember that there was this weird time where I knew a lot of people who had journals that they thought none of their friends read...

07. Has anyone ever joined lj because of you

Two of three people. Hmmm. I have codes now, too. I should get my siblings on board.

08. What proportion of your posts are friends only?

Well, "friends only" isn't the filter I use most, but... Probably 15% or so is protected one way or another.

09. What is your favorite interest on lj.

polyfelinity? sports bras? It's not a very original list.

10. Has anything on lj ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something?

In small ways, all the time. Can't think of any big ones at the moment.

11. How often do you respond / comment on other peoples journals?

Semi-frequently.

12. Do you prefer to write in your journal, read other journals?

They serve very different needs. I often wish people were writing more... when I'm working on a project online, sometimes I really want to refresh LJ and take a break... and that will be the two hours where no one has written a damned thing.

13. Have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on lj (or did it to someone else)?

No. Though I inadvertantly started an off-LJ flame war having to do with LJ.

And, of course LJ posts have provided much fodder for salacious gossip.

14. Have you ever banned somebody from your Journal?

Oh, you can ban people? I guess I knew that. Not yet. Doesn't currently seem likely, but hey, maybe psycho pedophile chick will get an account. I might ban her. (Though she was so not a techie...)

15. Who are your favorite lj friend(s) and why

who_is_she for the artwork

jinasphinx for the environmental daily (well not so daily) news

k_crow for interesting stories...

tshar, except that he hasn't posted in weeks, so I guess he doesn't count anymore :>P

these are just the people who occur to me at the moment ;-)

16. How many of your LJ friends have you actually met?

All but three.

17. Of all of the people on lj you know of, who is the most like you?

er... I've noted that I have things in common with damiana_swan and krow... and of course canyonwren and craigp. I don't tend to think many people are significantly like me. Not that I really know what I'm like from the outside, but I rather get the impression, anyway.

18. Why are you most likely to add someone to your friends list?

Because maybe they'll add me and then my friends list count will go up!

Er. I usually add people that I already know one way or another, when I find out what their LJ handle is. Or people that I've kind of known, if I see them posting interesting stuff elsewhere. Mimichan is the exception -- ran into her on the martial artists forum, and noticed we had a number of things in common, so I wrote to her, then added her to see if she every responded. And then she went to China. I'm *so* jealous.

19. Do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first?

Usually -- well, once I check them out and figure out who the hell this is. I see it as a courtesy thing. There are people I wouldn't reciprocally add.

20. What is the most likely reason you wouldn't add someone to your friends list?

Because they bore me. And even then I might give in to social pressure.

21. Is your "significant other" on lj?

Yes.

22. Have you ever wanted to meet someone on lj?

Well, I've met most of the people I know on LJ ;-) Actually, I had almost the opposite experience -- know was much more amusing in person than online.
