tylikSo there I was (okay, I started writing this in the present tense, but they called me in before I posted) in the waiting room getting read for an MRI, in my day glow bike jacket, explaining that yes, it's icy, but see, carbide studden tires. So no big. Yeah, I pretty much bike all year, though if there's enough thick, fluffy snow I might walk or take the bus because the studs don't really take Oh, yeah, I'm here for my knee - yeah, it's fine for biking - and I have this metal plate in my spine... which is to say I'm feeling a little conspicuous. This is what getting older looks like, I guess.
(So then I decided to stop by the bagel place for a peanut butter bagel and coffee - though really, why do people put sugar in peanut butter?! - before heading over to the lab, and get to do the whole bike and tell bit. Yup, I'm 'bent. Yup, for medical reasons rather than sheer enthusiasm, though I've come to love it. And studden tires are the best thing ever, no really, and not that expensive, especially compared to, say, falls. Ow.)
And now to the lab to check the new gracilaria, and the new refugia, and probably everyone's nitrate levels. Oh, please, gracilaria, be happy. I want to be leaving things in a good state...
