Well, some more stretching and warming up, and my hip calmed down and was fine. My sweeps (admittedly, we're talking sword sweeps, not wushu sweeps) were actually pretty good. I think part of what I'm running into is that it's fairly cold, and my muscles are often cold. Need to be more careful about thorough warmups and perhaps dress more warmly...
My shoulder, however, is worse. I didn't even bring my nice sword in, just the lightweight wood sword, and I had to put that down after one form. Stayed in the whole class, but the last half of it my arm hurt every time I lifted it, and I couldn't extend it without it hurting really bad, so I'm thinking probably I should have sat out sooner. Ended up skipping out on Chen -- sat down after Sword, and just couldn't bear to get moving again. (Muscles in my shoulder are connected to muscles in my neck, and I ended up with a headache and an upset stomach. Feh. Didn't seem like it was *that* fucked.)
So while I tried to figure out how to tie my shoes without extending my right arm, Leo sat there and told me stories about rotator cuff surgery. Thank you, Leo.
