Our demo went well. I think I'm pretty much past stage fright, at least for that form -- though I was a little scared of the stage. I want to do Chen at a major demo, though, dammit! (Though it's probably just as well I wasn't this time -- shoulder's getting a lot better, but I shouldn't push my luck.)
Quick stop by the market, and by Saabra's, home of the best falafil in the Greater Seattle area. Picked up a few things at World Spice, and then Aleppo pepper from the Souk because World Spice's order has been indefinately delayed due to problems with importing goods from Syria. (Thank you Uncle Sam!) Quality isn't quite what I've become used to... but considering how many years it took me to find the stuff again after I came back from Turkey, I'm not complaining.
A perfectly lovely afternoon and evening, a small part of which involved making dinner. Calamari in a red sauce with capers and pepper, zucchini, and the ceremonial first salad from the garden (mache and salad burnet). (Calamari needs to be cooked for less than a minute, or more than an hour, mostly -- though kalamarakia gemista seems to be just fine after 40 minutes. This was in the "more than an hour" catagory, with lots of wine.) Bread with a particularly nice crumb -- I'm really liking most of the loaves that get risen in the refrigerator... I think I've let my yeast culture get a bit too fast.
I'm in a gardening sort of mood... wonder if the weather will oblige? If not, I really need to hunt up some 36" wide wire shelves for my lights and start getting things set up for starts. And see if I can get the timer to work with them...
