Cops! Robbers! A low speed car chase!!!

tylikSo Craig wasn't feeling great after sword and wanted to skip out on Chen. (Now *his* shoulder is giving him grief. Are we sleeping on our shoulders funny? Or maybe it's just sword...)
So we headed out, and stumbled over a couple of guys acting rather suspiciously around a car. While getting into our car we see them acting rather oddly around a different car -- and then they were in yet a third car (which didn't seem to have a driver's side window). This is right where Craig had his car broken into twice last year (if y'all remember, where first they broke his stereo trying to steal it, and then later came back and stole the broken stereo) so we called the cops.
And then spent the next half hour (no joke) cruising around the I-dist tracking these guys and providing increasingly detailed descriptions while the cops tried to locate them. (The whole time I'm on the phone with the dispatcher, and for much of it there were three police cars circling around.) We're starting to wonder if they recognize our car, but then they tried to break into yet another car right in front of us, so perhaps not. One way or another, not bright.
After more loops through than I really want ot think about, and a lot of "okay, they just turned down Lane street, which is to say they are heading west and are just about to reach Maynard") they finally located them, and then we got to drive by, casually-like and verify they had the right people. In theory, this meant that they wouldn't know we fingered them. In practice, they'd have to be really stupid... but then, I was suspecting that. (Though we are taking odds on Craig's car being vandalized after this. And if we get jumped after class some night... well, hopefully these last several years of classes will count for something.)
Then we got to go try and locate the cars they were trying to break into under the bridge. Two of the three were no longer there, and the third -- the one we know for certain they were in to -- was just about to be driven away by its drivers. They were sure if anything was missing, but thought not as it had been broken into a week before, and everything had already been taken.
So they were caught. I don't know what our accounts are worth. I'm guessing it will depend in part if they had anything on them.
A different way to spend the evening. I feel like such a boy scout.
