Jun. 8th, 2003 09:04 pmIt looks like we might get some rain later this week. Here's hoping -- my rain barrell is almost empty. I should remember to grab a couple more Mon or Tues. Okay, I've been watering very heavily because I just planted a lot... but still, it's the eigth of June. This doesn't really bode well for the year.
It's amazing how many people who don't like zucchini grow it anyway. I just don't get it. I mean, I think I get the bit about plums -- because once they're planted, who only knows who will end up inheriting them. But zucchini? You have to deliberately plant them each year.
I'm wondering if I should plant some more. Technically, I only have other kinds of summer squash in. I wonder if I can pick up some butternut squash in decent shape... (I really hate planting squash from commercial starts, because they're so sensitive to root disturbance, but I only have acorn for a winter squash, and they aren't the best keepers. Of course, they're more likely to mature than most in our climate...) Did I mention? I love zucchini. I love most kinds of squash.
