Sometimes I wonder if between my martial arts training and physical therapy, I'm eventually going to end up with a taste for BDSM. (Nah, I'll probably just take up san shou ;-) )
The good news is that while my shoulder got a bit sore, my neck really didn't and I didn't get a headache, and I sat out less of my Chen class than I have for a while. (It's still lame that my problems with sword always end up costing my time in Chen.) Yay!
The painful news is that I have been doing a whole lot of spine alignment work. Which is great, and some of the new exercises are kind of amusing. And then
who_is_she came over and we did some weight and a bunch of stretching (and gossip) and more exercises around the mid and lower back, hips, etc. And then she left and I did a few more (okay, these ones aimed at getting everything in tip top shape for class.)
And then I hopped in my car, way early because I wanted to get some shopping done before I met Craig... and spent hte next hour and forty five minutes in traffic. And all those muscles I'd been working and stretching completely knotted up and I felt like I'd been kicked in the uterus by a horse. Damn!
I didn't know I could overdo things with those muscles. Or at least, I thought we'd pretty much settled that issue with wushu. They were so tight I was sick to my stomach.
But it's still miles better than having a headache, and if I feel like a complete gomer for having it effect my classwork (I *hate* that!) there's also something oddly satisfying to know I was faithful enough in doing my exercises to find all new ways of overdoing it.
Or maybe it was just the traffic.
