tylikJust did a bunch of planting (mostly indoors, starts for fall and winter). Need to go out and do a bunch more planting (peas, carrots, etc -- the sort of thing that needs to be direct sown. And maybe some lettuce because I can never have enough lettuce.)
Trying to figure out how to have more full sun veggie space. It's looking more and more like after I move the blueberry bushes into the back yard (it's really too dry for them up front, and the deer munch the heck out of them) I'm probably not going to replace them with anything particularly large, and if anything I'm going to expland those beds and grow a mix of perrenial herbs and veggies. I'm realizing that while my back garden gets plenty of sun for all but the most heat loving plants in the summer, it's really a little too shady when our days get shorter and more overcast. Which of course has me thinking dire thoughts regarding removing a tree or two...
I love this house. I love this yard. And yet, we are starting to get a sizable list of things we want in the next place -- more flat space for practicing outside (a proper studio indoors!) better sun... a basement... a cistern... a heating/cooling system that takes advantage of ground heat... a better pantry...
