tylikThis is day five of me having ramped down to half the dose of my fabulous anti-inflamatory, Bextra. (It's also new and very expensive, though I am being reimbursed for this expense.) The results are mixed.
On the one hand, I haven't had a big horrible flare up, which I have the other times I tried to ramp down (though one of those ramp downs, being unplanned and the result of a prescription mix up, was rather abrupt). I haven't been completely incapacitated, or forced to spend most of the day with ice wrapped around my neck and upper back.
Which has made me kind of tempted to call this ramp down a success. However, I have been gradually more and more sore in my upper back, neck and right shoulder, and woke up this morning with my my neck inflamed, my shoulder feeling funny, and some numbness in my right hand, and a bit of a burn going in my right hip. Which makes me question my criteria for success. (Oh, and I'm been a bit less active the last few days than is usual, becuase I've been feeling kind of generally crappy. Which may or may not have been related to the ramp down. Did I mention the near constant headaches?)
And school starts today. Hmmm. This was just going to be a log entry that finished with "well, I'll take an Alieve this morning, and consider increasing the dosage slightly this evening" but if I can't read the handwriting on the wall, perhaps I can once it's in my journal. I'm going to up the dosage now, and make a decision after class tonight about whether I will up it the rest of the way.
