First Group Hike
Apr. 17th, 2003 12:18 amWill be to Twin Falls State Park, Saturday the 26th of April (which is to say about a week and a half from now.)
This is probably my all time favorite short hike in the area. (Certainly the closest favorite.) It's about three miles round trip, and it has it all -- beautiful wildflowers, a river, little rocky beaches along the river, old growth trees, dark shady woods, a couple of vaguely steep spots (but fairly short) with good views, my favorite place to do taiji, and did I mention the Twin Falls? It's a great hike for local botany (our native violets, among many others, are in bloom), a great hike for pictures, good one for the kids... well, you get the idea ;-)
Meet at the Starbucks attached to the Crossroads Mall Barnes and Noble at 10:15. If you think you'll make it, drop me a note and I'll send you my cell number in case there's trouble meeting up.
To get to Twin Falls State Park, take I-90 east to exit 34. At the bottom of the exit, turn right, and follow the road until the last left turn before a bridge (which kindly is marked with a sign saying "Twin Falls State Park" or something to that effect). Take that left, drive until you reach the parking area.
