Just had my first PT appointment with the new physical therapist. I like her. She has me doing weird, insanely subtle exercizes (okay, in part because she thinks my large muscles all get plenty of exercise...)

Oddly, she says that I have a tendency towards hyperflexible joints, and am naturally likely to be on the flexibility side of the strength flexibility scale. Which had me saying, chica, I'm hella strong, and while my spine and shoulders are very flexible, the long muscles in my legs aren't, and they used to be very tight.

But, of course, that was due to a lot of the pronation issues, and with all the work in the martial arts I'm doing, it's gotten lots better. I'm pretty decent now, though not where I want to be.

Anyhow, what's cool if it actually works is that she claims that a lot of the work we'll be doing with my spine is likely to greatly improve my leg flexibility. I am so hoping! Anyhow, she also was going on about how because of my flexible joints I have to get stronger than most people in order to support them. Which is more and more fitting with my experience -- my ankles, for instance, though I still have a couple of stuck spots, are hyperflexible in some directions, which is why it's taken to long to stabilize them. But they will bend in ways they really oughtn't to without hurting, too.
