Sep. 21st, 2003 12:01 amOne last note (and then I'm really going to bed):
I brought home more than six pounds of birch boletes. Maybe closer to seven (didn't remember I had a scale until after I'd already gotten a bunch of them drying). And these are young firm birch boletes, not old waterlogged ones, either.
It's kind of an insane quantity of them. (Anyone want a few? I'm going to be harvesting them all fall.) Right now my dehydrator is completely full, and I have pretty much an equal amount still to dry, plus a number of the nicest specimins held back for fresh eating...
See? When I invite people along to hunt mushrooms, I do not guarantee results. But when I invite them along to pick mushrooms, I do. Still, I hadn't realized just how much my patch had fruited.
I'll try to post pictures tomorrow. (And hopefully get
rocket_jockey's pictures up too. Have to get the permissions reset on the web server, and get a couple of other things set up I've been lazy about.)
