Feb. 9th, 2004 10:01 amI often try to act as if the events of the last few years haven't changed the way I look at the world. At least not that much. Certainly, if the alternative is waving flags and kissing one's civil liberties goodbye... (Well, that part of it has probably creeped me out the most.) Or maybe it's just that this whole homeland security bit has made me feel so consistantly less safe...
So this morning, I was checking email and LJ, and pulled up one of my news sites... and the darned thing wouldn't load. On the second try, I got the top banner, but no content. And for a second, I just sat there and wondered what terrible thing had happened in the world that the servers were so overloaded... On 9/11, most of the conventional news sites were halfway impossible to load. (So one goes to slashdot in an emergency. A fact which amuses me to no end.)
Nah, just server flakiness.
(And of course, in the event of a real emergency, it would have been all over LJ, too, which I checked first.)
